Clear evidence of rising damp.

The line of the damp proof course is not visible although the badly perished brickwork known as spalling gives a clue. The face of the bricks has “blown” due to the freeze-thaw action of temperature change on moisture within them.

There is no obvious sign of a problem above the apparent line of the damp proof course. The existing brickwork needs cutting out and replacing with ones of a denser nature such as engineering bricks (often referred to as “blue bricks” in this locality).

No other actions may be necessary subject further investigations.
