Unusual Ceiling

Unusual Ceiling

Here is the unusual opportunity to inspect the precise nature of this cottage ceiling as there is no plaster or other decorative finish.

The house is about 200 years old. Here the ceiling is formed of timber strips known as laths. Between the laths you can see the plaster finish used to form the bedroom floor above. Having the appearance of concrete, lime plaster floors are not uncommon in the East Midlands.
