Structural Movement

Structural Movement

Part of a surveyor’s role is to assess the seriousness or otherwise of movement in buildings.

In this case there is distortion of the brickwork (which has been repointed with no cracking having subsequently reopened) and the replacement window has been custom made to fit the distorted shape of the opening.

The evidence suggests the movement is old or “historic”. It is unlikely to progress further and is not untypical in what is probably an early Victorian property.
