This is the roof space of an inter war town house in Leicester.
When the existing owners purchased the house they were told the original timber roof frame of down rafters and cross purlins was deflecting slightly.
Indeed it was… a bit. Their builder undertook substantial, and possibly, excessive strengthening works as the photo shows. It is unlikely this roof will move any further in the foreseeable future.
